Telnet Disconnection Frequently on L-1000

I have installed HP 9000 L-1000 Servers
of 6 numbers , connected in a single network.
O/S : HP UX 11:00 ,Application rele:Mar 2000.
I am getting frequent disconnection from
servers when I am working with servers using
Telnet.after some 3-4 minutes I will get connected by relogging again.

I heared the same thing is happening in
another place , where the same network/same
H/W and S/W configuration. On the servers only O/S has been installed right now.

Is there any known problem like this on L-1000/HPUX 11.00? Can you suggest me some Patches so that I can solve this.

could these telnet disconnections be caused by your other post on the file table becoming full ? that could cause a failed telnet request. As for patches, you should be using the quarterly patch bundles (GR - general release), current one is June2000 which you can download from the ITRC. We use them on our L-class and ive not seen any failed telner connections at all.

Check the line for telnet in /etc/inetd.conf to see if there is a time out period specified. Error messages can also been see in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log, to ascertain the cause.

Check syslog and see if you are getting entries like "unable to allocate pty." If so, you will need to increase these parameters in the kernel:

npty
nstrpty
nstrtel

This sounds like it is a Patch problem. There are no configuration files that set a auto-logout period for telnet according to document A5584168.

However, there are problems with patch PHNE_20936 that causes telnet connections to fail.

If you find this to be the problem you can back down to PHNE_19298 or install the latest superceding patch PHNE_21822 (Not yet HP Recommended).
