telnet session closes

Hi,

I am running a sql script on one of our dbservers (both HP and Solaris) using a telnet session. The telnet session closes after 10 minutes.

Can anyone let me know what I have to do to increase the timeout.

thanks in advance.

The variable is called TIMEOUT and it can be found in /etc/profile or the users .profile in its home directory .

Re: telnet session closes

TMOUT will only timeout when your session is totally at an idle stage. If you are running a sql script, then you are not idle, hence TMOUT does not kick in.

Which system is kicking you out after 10 minutes? What are you connecting from?

Re: telnet session closes

Hi Harry,
Thanks for responding. This is
happening in Solaris. I have the session open for 10 minutes and it closes. I am using ssh to connect to the solaris box.

thanks,

Re: telnet session closes

Hi Manda,

On your solaris server add TMOUT=0 to your locale profile.

Kind regards,

Robert-Jan.
