Re: Temp HP
I have seen some servers they monitor their own temperature, with a special type of sensor, if they are too hot, the ems can be configure to even send you a notification.
But something to check the temp all the time on the server, I do not know of one, even thought there are solutions that will check your data center temp, with with that you can have an idea of what is going on in the server room.
You can check this link:

and this thread.

SolutionManaging any sized data center means that both power and temperature are controlled with fallbacks including a complete disconnect of all power to everything when the temperature goes over 115 deg F. There is no way to get someone paged to the data center Saturday morning at 2 AM in order to fix the problem before equipment is destroyed.
There are several companies that supply web-based monitoring tools for temp, humidity, power and even leaking water (always a problem in a data center). As a minimum, most modern UPS boxes have temperature and power (load, voltage, battery capacty) measurements through a LAN card but you still need to link the data to a failsafe system to prevent major damage even when the sysadmin is stuck in traffic.

Re: Temp HP
The server knows about the temp, if you want to know it too, use a thermometer.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
