SEP/Michael,

The problem does not occur from direct entry, it occurs from a cut/paste from any text formatted with rich text.
To me, it reeks of a code page issue or character set. But I guess it could be as simple as the forum SW doesn't know squat about rich text & it's codes.

Jeff, the problem _does_ also occur in direct entry! Seen my first post, second column. Those should all be valid characters. The names are next to it, these were entered in this input window and showed fine.

It further confirms my suspicion that it can't handle certain codepages.

Thanks for the test and confirming the cut and paste issue from Word.

This is also a paste from Word. Iâ ve got the lab working on this problem now, we believe it primarily affects apostrophes, but also there is a truncation issue. John has provided much information on this.

I had a cut and paste from my Telnet window and got bad characters...

Of course I can't duplicate it now... hehe

the error was near the -fnC portion... around the dash.
