tftp 2 Access violation.
I have started experiencing tftp errors on my system. First in my syslog I have several error messages like tftpd[28475]: Access from TEST_SERVER denied. Now, I have checked my services file and I have them all enabled. My /var/adm/inetd.sec file has no mention of tftp service denied or allowed. Has anyone experiences such a problem and what are the remedies ? HELP......
Thanks
Richard

Re: tftp 2 Access violation.
tftp has no authentication. Usually when access denied messages comese up its due to system configuration like inetd.sec.
With 11.11(11i v1) and above, the security on tftp was tightened. This make the ownership of the files in the /home/tftp directory critical. Root can not own those files. Only the tftp user can own them. Check that and then perhaps explicitly enable tftp in inetd.sec

Re: tftp 2 Access violation.
I have re-configured my inetd.sec file and I get all failures.... I have put the inetd.sec back to what it was back to before that time. It still has not resolved this issue.

Re: tftp 2 Access violation.
Since you say the inetd.sec file OK, the probable cause could be the way the file access being done causing access denied error. Refer the tftpd(1M) man page for details to understand possible cause.
It seems that you are not *very* fond of assigining points to the answers for your questions. Your profile shows
"I have assigned points to 10 of 115 responses to my questions. " which is not good.
Take time to assign points so in future you will see many replies to your questions.

Re: tftp 2 Access violation.
I have done all the suggested methods but still failed. I get the foillowing in my syslog.log file tftpd[28475]: Access from XXX.yy.ZZ.mm denied. I have recycled the inetd -c to re-read the services file. And by the way, tftpd line in /etc/services is NOT commented.
Please help...
NB: I will be careful to assign points next time. Sorry, I use this forum infrequently.
