the missing link!

I've seen a couple of instances of apparently blank message titles and wondered if it is possible to create one.

Re: the missing link!

Bruno,

If you can explain to me how you were able to respond, it would be worth at least a bunny!

Re: the missing link!

Bruno,

The only thing I can figure is that you were able to figure out the threadid and manually put it into the URL.

Re: the missing link!

Matter of looking at the source of the page and some HTML tags reading... Not the solution you like.

BTW: IE also reported an error in the page. Should have to do with the reason you don't see an underlined space as link...

Re: the missing link!

Elmar,

That almost qualifies but I'm looking for a simple explanation that even I can understand.

Re: the missing link!

Like Elmar, I viewed the HTML source, found the threadid from it, and hacked together the URL.

Next challenge, blank category anyone?

Re: the missing link!

Geez.. I thought I was going crazy here for a second.. Seeing that you were the second blank title to appear today.. and especially seeing that you already had 10 replies on it..

Interesting reading here.

Pete,

Don't you have anything better to do than break the forum this morning?

I see that Melvyn aptly named this thread after you. ;)

Re: the missing link!

Hi Pete,

I know, I missed it, but I searched in the html code for the title of the thread next to it, then I saw, the link to yours was there and I manially replaced that part in the url.

Re: the missing link!

A hyperlink in HTML looks like this:
some text

Now in your case "some text" was a single space. So I looked at the HTML code (right mouse butten, view source) and searched for this pattern. Then I copied and pasted the part after the equal sign to my address bar (had to keep the http://forums1.itrc.hp.com) and was in your thread.

By double clicking on the error icon in the lower left hand corner of the status bar of IE I could have found the problem in the HTML code even faster, probably pinpointing the URL... But I did it like described above. Just because I was curious about this thread.

Re: the missing link!

This is a very interesting read. I hope for the next forums release, that during testing, instead of using scripted test plans, they let us take a rip at it without a script to try and break the forums before it's released. (There may have been people to do this, but I had scripted tests.)

That's what I call having fun!

I was trying to find the post by changing the link id. Needless to say, that method did not work. Very clever to examine the profile. I looked there as well but did not figure that out.
