Top command core dumps and gray screen lockup
Every time a user tries to run the "top" command, it just core dumps.
The other issue is intermittent: Once in a while when they leave the system for
a while and come back, there is a blank gray screen and the system has to be
rebooted to bring back the system.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Vic

Re: Top command core dumps and gray screen lockup
This happened to us also once. Then I found the top file was changed (may be
after applying some patch).
The actual 'top' file should be of size 28672.
I am attaching the top file. Update /usr/bin/top with this if the file size is
not 28672.
Hope this helps

Re: Top command core dumps and gray screen lockup
Did you also have the gray screen issue? Was that related?

Re: Top command core dumps and gray screen lockup
reboot the system. I don't see anything in the system log to indicate what the
problem could be.
It hasn't happened in 2 or 3 weeks. I just worry that it's a sign of some other
fundamental problem.
