Traps

I want to write a script that parses the syslog on an HP machine and generate traps to send to an Openview machine based on the syslog message. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have Perfview installed on the machine the syslog is on but not OV. OV is installed on a different machine.

Have you looked at HP's EMS ?

http://www.software.hp.com/products/EMS/

There is also SNMP support in perl5:

http://www.switch.ch/misc/leinen/snmp/perl/
