Why can't login from Xwindow (such as : Reflection tool) after system convert to Trusted system? The Reflection can login successfully while in the non-trusted system? Does anyone has any solutions? Thanks.

Re: Trusted system

Is this happening for all your systems. If so, could you give us some details on from where you are logging in like ur desktop etc and also what tools (X-Win, Reflection, etc) are you using to log into your HP-UX systems.

Also let us know if you are able to use telnet from your desktop without any issues

Re: Trusted system

The Reflection can logging no problem in non-trusted system, but after convert to trusted -system, then the Reflection can't login anymore. Any limitation on Reflection or trusted system? Thanks.

Re: Trusted system

I try to login CDE in the local GUI console, it is also can't login properly, and after login root , the CDE login screen will shows again and again. So, is it Trusted system doesn't support CDE login?

Re: Trusted system

Is it possible the password has expired? Reflections has issues when connecting as a user who's password has expired. Try doing a regular telnet to login. If it requests a password change, do it and try the CDE again.

Re: Trusted system

Does your password length is more than 8chars, after converting it to trusted system user first 8 chars only.

Also once you convert to trusted systems, all passwords will expire.
Do /usr/lbin/modprpw -V to avoid that.
Do as follows. untrust the system, covert it to trusted mode, do /usr/lbin/modprpw -V and login.

Post the results.

Re: Trusted system

Hi Expert,
The user password is less than 8 chars, but this problem still not fixed. Should I install the CDE newest patch for HPUX11.00? Due to this is a production machine, does anyone think apply patch is a good idea? Thanks in advanced.

L.S.

Any messages in ~/.dt/errorlog?
Can you login in failsafe session mode?

Patching in generel may be a good idea, but personally I would like to see my symptom described in the patch description before applying a lot of patches.

Re: Trusted system

After check the errorlog, it is a display problem. That's due to that hostname are set not correctly. Anyway, thanks everyone's suggestion. The problem is fixed.
