Upgrade CommandView failed!

I am trying to install CV 1.09.1

I uninstalled the old version, and removed the directories. (bad mistake).

# armdiscover -v
This could take several minutes ...

Failed to obtain remote database interface to host: localhost

I am clueless, I have looked at everything.

several config files, access.dat, ...

everything looks good? Can anyone even tell me where to begin?

Re: Upgrade CommandView failed!

I should add that

ioscan sees all the luns... so I know it is there...

Re: Upgrade CommandView failed!

armdiscover is looking for database and does not get one. Restore old dirs to alternate location. Install new version and copy only old files to new location.

This should get you working. Also is host name resolution OK?? nslookup "host_name" and nslookup "host_ip_address"

Re: Upgrade CommandView failed!

sorry, I don't have the old directories... :-(

# nslookup hp9000
Using /etc/hosts on: hp9000

looking up FILES
Name: hp9000
Address: 192.168.99.12
Aliases: RP4440

# nslookup 192.168.99.12
Using /etc/hosts on: hp9000

looking up FILES
Name: hp9000
Address: 192.168.99.12
Aliases: RP4440

all looks good

Re: Upgrade CommandView failed!

Your database for the disk array is kept in /var/opt/sanmgr/commandview/server/data/ directory and since it doesnt exist or there is no proper DeviceDBFile file it cant display the data.

Best is to reconstruct the database file using armrecover command
armrecover array-id
whereas array-id you can get from
armdsp -i command the alias is your array id
Have a look at the man pages for more info

Re: Upgrade CommandView failed!

The install appears to have failed, (Thanks RAC) but why?

I am trying to install

cvsdm_11_11_v109.depot

uname -a shows
hp9000 hp9000 B.11.11 U 9000/800 145023394 unlimited-user license

Thanks everyone for the prompt responses

Re: Upgrade CommandView failed!

I don't get it, I don't understand it...

All I did was uninstall it, and reinstall it... for the forth time...

and it worked... Ok, so I mounted a CDROM drive, that should have nothing to do with it? I wasn't installing from the CD?
