Upgrade java version
Hi! Got a security bulletin this morning which talk about java upgrade. I have to upgrade java from version 1.4.1.02.00 to 1.4.1.04.
I could find the instruction for install but not for the upgrade.
Does anyone know how to do the upgrade? Or is it just uninstall of old version and install of new?
Thanks

Re: Upgrade java version
Download the depot
Download and install any new required os patches.
Check that you have all the old required os patches.
swinstall -s /location_of_depot \*
When doing an upgrade within the same major version number(1.4 to 1.4) you do not need to remove the old software.
You probably want to have any apps using java down during the install, though its probably not a requirement.
I'd also do a make_tape_recovery backup prior to the install.
