upgrading from hp rp7400 to integrity rx6600

We are planning to replace our rp7400 with an hp integrity rx6600 sometime in the beggining of August, and I was wondering if anyone has some kind of a checklist they followed when upgrading from one server to another.

Shalom,

When you say upgrade, I assume you mean building a new server and migrating your applications and data to it. On that basis I continue.

1) Check that all critical applications have Itanium versions. Most app vendors maintain separate code sets. Oracle in particular.
2) Plan and test a data conversion because you may need to do that for Oracle, Informix and other db apps.
3) Do your OS install, making sure firmware is up to date.
4) Get and install OS patches required by your applictions.
5) Work with your users so they prepare an extensive test plan. Make sure they execute the plan. Don't agree to a cut over schedule until you see they ran the test plan.
