Oracle92 requires patches of one of them are PHKL_18543. After dealing with this patch on the rp2450 causing us to reload the OS I have some questions that you may help with.
This is a Production box (rp7400) so I have limited time to do any thing.
Can 11.0 be upgraded to 11.11 without losing the Apps? (Oracle8i, and Powerhouse)
Meaning what would be lost doing an upgrade versa doing a new install of 11.11 where I would have to reload all the Apps.
If I could do an OS upgrade a then apply the patched Oracle92 needs for 11.11 then I may be able to avoid the PHKL_18543 patch.
The PHKL_18543 stopped us from re-compiling the kernel on the rp2450 and would not remove or re-install. We did a new install on the rp2450 and then things went well. This was our standby/test server. The rp7400 needs to be in production so... we you get the idea.
Could I have your thoughts?
Marty

Re: Upgrading
The Problem is the Patch PHKL_18543.
We are testing Oracle92 and PH843d while runing Oracle8i and PH823d7 on the test server with no problems on the rp2450.
It is the patch-from-@#$% that scares me.

Re: Upgrading
The patch set I have to load has PHKL_185433 required by most of then. When I create the depot and load the patches will it just skip this patch?
Installing patches is not one of my strong skills.

SolutionJust make ABSOLUTELY SURE you do NOT have the option to reinstall files selected.
The reinstall is what causes problems. You NEVER want to reinstall PHKL_18543.

Re: Upgrading
We have this time window right now where we can only do the Oracle92 upgrade.
We can schedule the OS upgrade on a holiday weekend.
I checked onre on the patch and found it only re-installing it that is causing the problems. So we will try loading the patches without re-installing PHKL_18543.
The other server it got re-installed in 2003 when we did not know better. THe other server had the new 11.11 install last monthe because of the patch.
I was a little nervous because of it.
Thanks for your input John.
