Users without home directory

Hello,

I have a quick question. When I use NIS, user that was declared on boxA now can login also on boxB, because I have merged passwd file in NIS. How can I restrict user, to login only on boxA? Is there nay flag that I can switch on to make user login only on the box where it has home directory?

Alex,

How about setting up a test in /etc/profile that would bounce them if this wasn't the correct server?

Re: Users without home directory

Ofcourse some custom script can be made, but I wonder if there is "built-in" option to do it.

Hi,
Have not heard about that but, maybe you could do a modification to the users login script. Test for the home directory, if fails, logout.

Re: Users without home directory

Leif, it's gonna be a bit problem, because user does not have a home directory, so it does not have a login script either.

If the only option is to make a script, then it has to be in /etc/profile, because it's the only thing executed for the user that does not have a home directory.
