I get the following error appearing every few seconds with varying PID's this can occure while logged in as root aswell. The hardware is an 8-way N4000. Sybase is the installed DB.

Any assistance on this would be appreciated.

Jonathan,
can yo9u check permissions on /etc, should be at least r-x for everybody.
Also have a look at this rather long thread:

You probably need more details of error. Check dmesg ....

Shalom,

There should be information in the application error logs on this situation as well. I don't know where sybase keeps them, but I do know they exist.

Jonathan,
are you running ASE 12.5.0.3 ?

See section 299611

Have you got enough user connections?
Do these errors occur during backups ?

Also, your profiles shows you have never assigned any points ?! (0 for 11 answers)

Re: UX 11i error - Cannot read, host process disconnected

I am looking into when Sybase was last upgraded. unfortunatley the Person who works on the Sybase is currently out of country until Monday.

New users have recently started making use of Sybase as the Bank in question has opened new branches. In addition to this a new system that provides a web interface for credit and loans has been developed which also interfaces with the Sybase system.

I have confirmed with the customer that the only recent problems experienced have been with sybase locks but no users to his knowledge have been disconnected etc. I will check DMESG and post another reply.

Backups are facilitated using SYBASE utilities which are initiated using DBARTISAN. Nothing on this level has changed.

Thanks for your answers and I will be ure to assign points from now on. I do appreciated your advice and experience
