Vg activate automatically

Hi, Thanks first for all your help. I have been with HP-UX no more than 3 months. So here I have one simple questions for every masters in this area:
In my system,vg01 is always deactivate after system starting. So I have to activate it with vgchange, could anyone tell me how can i make vg01 active permanently?

Thanks again.

Re: Vg activate automatically

Hi Lalo,

What kind of LVM maintenance did you do recently?

You possibly have an issue with file /etc/lvmtab
# cp /etc/lvmtab /etc/lvmtab.old
# vgscan -a

You could issue a 'vgscan -p' before the above to preview actions.

Check the vgscan manual page, as there is a warning concerning disks with alternate paths.

Best regards,

Dan

Re: Vg activate automatically

Check that the line AUTO_VG_ACTIVATE in the /etc/lvmrc file is set to 1, if it is neccesary to set it to 0 (EG: ServiceGuard), then remember to add /dev/vg01 to the custom_vg_activation area lower in the file.

Re: Vg activate automatically

Hi,

Is your server a node in a cluster ?

Have a look at file /etc/lvmrc

AUTO_VG_ACTIVATE=0 means that only vg listed in the custom_vg_activation function will be acvivated on boot.

Regards,

Patrice.
