Re: VGDA

Hi:

I'll do a bit better and start at the VGRA (Volume Group Reserved Area). The VGRA is comprised of two parts:

1) The VGRA (Volume Group Descriptive Area)
It contains data like: How many Physical Volumes's comprise this Volume Group; Number of Logical Volumes in this Volume Group; and
the Physical Extent to Logical Extent map for each logical volume in this volume group

2) The VGSA (Volume Group Status Area)
It contains the status of each Physical Volume in this volume group.

Hope this clears it up, Clay
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: VGDA

hello,

do not forget the PVRA (Physical Volume Reserverd Area)
and the BDRA (Boot Disk Reserved Area) where LVM
keeps the information about the physical volumes,
resp. the Boot-LV/Root-LV/Swap-LV/Dump-LV (the
latter only for boot-disks, of course)...
