vgdisplay

I have a problem on a HP9000 that everytime the vgdisplay command with no
options is performed, the system panic's and crashes. Anyone ever hear of
this?

I would try two things to try and eliminate the actual problem. Type lvlnboot
-v and ensure you have entries for root, dump, swap and boot. If this all looks
good then look for patches that are designated for LVM on the HP web-site
