Re: VIP

David !

1. If I don't mistake up to 256 multiplexed addresses per ethernet port.

2. You can use VIP address for a virtual I/F physically independent of any hardware I/F to access your server. This address is not bound to any real I/F of your server but is a multiplexed address configured on loopback I/F. All you need to access this I/F from a remote host is to configure all possible routes to it on the host. If some particular phisical I/F of the server goes down you still have an alternative route to access it.

What is the third part of your question ? :)

Re: VIP

David, Is'nt this forum resource pretty awesome! I maybe take advantage of this resource once every couple of months. But when I do use it I am grateful. After racking my brain on some issues the guys/gals here on the fourm have helped me and saved me time and headaches. I feel pretty bad sometimes because I feel I do not answer my share of other admins problems, but at least if they are taking 10 or 15 minutes (sometimes more) in helping me out, the least I can do is take 30 seconds and assign them some points. this was just an observance
