vPar Licensing

Hello,

Could someone please give me advice on vPar licensing, specifically do we need Mirror/UX and GlancPlus licenses for each virtual partition.
This would be on a PA-risc architecture (if it makes any difference)

Thanking in advance

Re: vPar Licensing

If you are going to use Vpar software to create Virtual Partitions, you will need the correct licenses for EACH partition, as they are completely individual "systems" or OS incantations. As such, you can therefore have a vpar with Mirror/UX, and one without, different patch revisions etc. Therefore each partiotion will need it's own license

Re: vPar Licensing

Hi Barry,

No, you don't *need* them, but if these were Production systems, I'd certainly *want* them.
But - remember that some SW is licensed on a CPU count per *complex* - EX. the OS. If you're OS is licensed for 16 CPUs & you vPar into 2 8 CPU systems, there is no extra charge for the OS. SO check licensing terms - there may or may not be an extra charge.
