vpar question
I have 4 vpars, all 4 running 11.23 with vpar software version A.04.03. Now I have a requirement to make the 4th vpar 11.31 operating system. HP has aid that it is possible with A.05.01 version. Now if someone who had done this if can help out with the process and precautions I would apprecaite it.
Thanks
Jake

Re: vpar question
The following vPars versions are supported in various mixed HP-UX combinations in vPars environment.
Mixed HP-UX 11i v1/v2/v3 vPars
Mixed HP-UX 11i v2/v3 vPars environment within the same hard partition, note that the vPars monitor that must be used is that bundled with A.05.01, A.05.02, or A.05.03 or later. See the latest version of HP-UX Virtual Partitions Administrator's Guide available at

Re: vpar question
I had this but basically what I wanted to know is
1) If I would need to upgrade the vpar softwares to what versions on 11.23
2) what are the best ways of planning downtimes
3) Do I need to recreate the vpars etc

Re: vpar question
1. Shutdown all vPars except the base vPar
2. Install A.05.03 on the base vPar and then shutdown the base vPar
3. Reboot the vPar Monitor "MON>reboot"
4. Turn of HyperThreading
EFI-Shell> cpuconfig threads off
EFI-Shell> parconfig reset
5. Install A.05.03 on each of the 11.23 vPars and reboot the vPars
6. Now create the 11.31 vPar, install A.05.03 and reboot

Re: vpar question
