vxfs version 4 layout max size ?

HI,
I am currently running vxfs 3.5 on hpux 11.11 and attempting a to create a file system version 4 layout

-- the problem (it is 1.5 TB) and is saying invalid file

Anyone know what th max size for a filesytem for the above spec ?

Can you post the command you are using. Then someone can make sure its not just a command line error.

I believe based on pea brain molecules (my memory) that that filesystem size is possible.

Smaller seperate filesystems might be more efficient from the i/o standpoint.

The limit is 2TB but I've never tried to create a filesystem this big. You might try using the underlying mkfs -F vxfs command and specify the version as well rather than using newfs. I would also specify largefiles in the command.

"VxFS can, theoretically, support files up to two terabytes in size because file system structures are no longer in fixed locations (see Disk Layout). The maximum size tested and supported on HP-UX 11.x systems is one terabyte. Large files are files larger than two gigabytes in size."
