WARN 7702

I get the above message now when I reboot. Does it mean there is something wrong with my disks? I can no longer see 2 LUNs which used to be there under 10.20, and now that I have installed 11.0, I can access them. What can I do?

Should I have 2 BBU's visible in SAM? I only see one.

Re: WARN 7702

Hi Cliff:

It appears that from some of your other posts that this warning is appearing on a K-class server. WARN(ing) 7702 simply means that memory was initialized but not tested. If you turn off FASTBOOT this should disappear.

WATN 7702 has absolutely nothing to do with disks. Do you see your missing disks with 'ioscan -fnC disk'? Do they show "claimed"? If not, check all scsi connections and terminators.

Re: WARN 7702

Yes, I see all my disks are CLAIMED, but I only can see one LUN, I should see three.
Do I have to recreate them? Are they gone and lost forever?

8.0.5 Array
8.0.5.0 Lun
8.8.4 Array

These are in SAM, the Lun is set up with 10 disks, but I should have 2 more, one with 4 disks and one with 6

Re: WARN 7702

In the past the behaviour was that LUN's after a gap are skipped. That means if you deconfigure your LUN 1 all LUN's up from 2 to the end were missing after a reboot.

This was by design to keep scantimes low. In the HPUX 10.20 patch PHKL_22224 this behaviour has been changed:

ioscan will not discover devices (LUNs) that follow a
non-existent LUN on a given target. Ie. ioscan will only
currently find existent LUNs that are in sequential order
starting from LUN 0. Therefore, such "non-contiguous" LUNs
will not be seen by ioscan and will not be accessible to the
system. This behaviour had been seen with a EMC disk array,
but may exist with other devices.

In PHKL_21607 (already replaced by PHKL_22759) "s700_800 11.00 SCSI IO Subsystem Cumulative Patch " there is the following statement:

"The stated limitations on lun numbering are that they must
start at zero and be in sequential order. If there are any
"gaps" in lun numbering, ioscan will not recognize the high
order luns above the gap. The request is for ioscan to
recognize all luns, regardless of lun numbering and order."

Make sure you have PHKL_22759 (+ dependent patches!) installed.

Re: WARN 7702

According to swlist, patch 22759 is already installed, here is the output of ioscan -fnC disk:

Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
======================================================================
disk 0 8/0.5.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE DGC C2300WDR10
/dev/dsk/c0t5d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t5d0
disk 1 8/8.4.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE DGC C2300WDR10
/dev/dsk/c2t4d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t4d0
disk 2 10/0.4.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST19171W
/dev/dsk/c3t4d0 /dev/rdsk/c3t4d0
disk 3 10/0.6.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST19171W

disk 4 10/12/5.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-5701

/dev/dsk/c4t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c4t2d0

I believe it is the LUNs on 8.4 that I cannot see.
