Webjetadmin 6.2 on HP-UX 11.00

the auto discovery to find the network printers on the network. However, it doesn't find any of the network printers. However, if I type in the IP address of a network printers in the Quick Device Find: box, it will find those printers. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to do something else? I've already installed the PHSS_21947 patch.
I like to be able to print, configure and manage the network printers from my J5000.

Thanks

Jimmy:

Is yours a 'switched' network? I guess most are these days. That might put a damper on whatever broadcast packets JetAdmin is listening for to detect the JetDirect devices on the network.

Kevin,

The new office is running either 10MB or 100MB network. Are you saying that if is a switched network, Webjetadmin won't work? Are there workaround for this?

Thanks

He is not saying that it will not work, but the "BROWSE" functionality will be very limited. The nature of a switch is to know who is on what port, and move traffic only to where it needs to go. WJA browse functionality listens to other traffic on the network to know where printers are. The switch does not send all traffic to every port (as with a hub) so you either need to know the IP, or MAC address to find it.

Re: Webjetadmin 6.2 on HP-UX 11.00

Shannon,
If I have all the IP, subnet, mac addresses for the printers. Is there a way for me to "hardcoded" the info into WebJetadmin and make it work?

Thanks

If your printers are on differents subnets or nets, and you are able to ping them but they cannot be seen by webjetadmin, there is some possibilities you are being filtered by routers (or switches?...) check with your networks admins to know if its the case, mention port 500 or tftp ...

Good luck
