Why external cd?

Why external cd?

Why is there a "/usr/bin/cd" ?
All it does is exec cd, evidently from within the shell. So if one were to enter "/usr/bin/cd", they would change directory, but then lose their shell since it's exec'd... This just plain boggles me.

Any ideas?

Geez, what a doofus - I violated the First Unoffical Rule of Unix. The second is "Check the FURU"...

pitty you cannot reward yourself some points ;-)
All unix flavours are exactly the same . . . . . . . . . . for end users anyway.
