X Window
Hi,
I want to install an application on an server though VPN. I have a Exceed from Hummingbird to get the graphical window. I have done it in my servers in the LAN and it works fine.
When try it to the remote server I'm not able to get the graphical window in my PC.
What should be the problem? and how can I install an application without getting the graphical window.
my pc IP is 10.10.92.13
The IP of the server 10.0.111.72 // I access it through VPN and from that box.
Thanks

Re: X Window
Not enough detail in your description to be sure, but I'd guess you're connecting to the server via SSH and you don't have the "X11 forwarding" turned on in your PC SSH client.
As for installing an application without graphics, if it's a depot packaged product that is installed with swinstall, you should get the TUI interface if it can't figure out a valid X display to use for the GUI... or you could provide the necessary command line options to make it work without interaction.
All bets are off if it's not an SD-UX bundled product though. If you have something that's packaged like Oracle that insists on using a proprietary installer, you could be SOL if you don't have an X display working.
