Hi,

on Solaris run:
xhost +
telnet to hpserver and set DISPLAY variable

export DISPLAY=solaris_ip:0

run xterm command to check

Re: xhost

Could you be more explicit about your configuration ?

I understand you have a workstation with an opened X session to a solaris 9. You try to get graphical App from an HP-UX server. Could you confirm ?

If this is the case, from your session on HP-UX export DISPLAY to your workstation. Launch App and it should work (just do as if solaris does not exist - it shouldn't be hard :).

Fred

Re: xhost

remember you have to run xhosts + on solaris console.

Re: xhost

Hi,

to get full CDE session from remote host, you must run local X server with sending XDMCP query packet to remote host.

From HP machine it can be done by:

1. Not login to CDE, but choose Command Line

2. Run X server with options:

/usr/bin/X11/X -query hostname

To run CDE session from remote HP host on local solaris9 machine, the idea is the same.

Make sure, that dtlogin process is running on remote host.

Re: xhost

to disable access control type:
xhost +
export display
"export DISPLAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:x.x" ip and port number.
This will enable you to start an exported gui session on your terminal.

Re: xhost

Instead of xhost + (wide open)....just xhost hpservername

Or better yet, create a little file of hosts you want to trust for X:

cat /home/gwild/xhost.sh
xhost +svr003
xhost +svr004
xhost +svr031
xhost +svr032
xhost +svr100
xhost +svr101
xhost +sha1

so, from Solaris, telnet to the hp server, export DISPLAY=solarisserver:0
