Re: xserver windows manager

Hi,

You need to install XManager (www.netsarang.com) and login via X11 to execute the installer. Otherwise, run from console mode.

Re: xserver windows manager

Where to install?server or client workstation? We are trying to install the oracle via telnet using other pc to this unix server.
Is it free software or request license?

Re: xserver windows manager

Fauziah,

In order to do a silent installation, you will have to create a response file. Instructions on how to do this in Oracle 10g are located here:

Re: xserver windows manager

Hi Fauziah,
You can Install CygwinX which is a free software and you can do the Oracle installtion from GUI using that.
download CygwinX from this site

Re: xserver windows manager

Fauziah,

After installing CygwinX, you will need to set up X11 forwarding and then connect via SSH instead of Telnet.

Re: xserver windows manager

Hi Fauziah,

If you have installed Cygwin then use the following command

xwin -query hostname

where hostname is the name of the server you want to connect to.

Re: xserver windows manager

a good X server package for windows is XliveCD, which is based on cygwin, but takes a lot of the troubles away.
