xtadm error

On a 712/100 workstation running HP-UX 11.11 I get the following message inside of xtadm when I attempt to test bootp operation I get the following message: "version of bootpd in /usr/lbin/bootpd does not seem to understand the ba tag will not do bootpquery" This workstation is intended to boot Entria and Envisex Xterminals.

#what /usr/lbin/bootpd
/usr/lbin/bootpd:
$Revision: vw: cheriv_JAGad35417 selectors: CUPI80_BL2000_1025 'cup_cheriv_jagad35417'

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: xtadm error

at a guess it maybe down to the fact enware s/w is not mean't to be installed on 11.11.Last supported O/S = 11.00 .... not tried forcing the install just yet so I maybe wrong ? does the xterminals boot OK from this box ?

Does this work on an enware fileserver system @ 11.00 ?

Re: xtadm error

The first thing I would do is to install all latest patches of bootpd/DHCP (cumulative). Check the patch database and see if you have anything to install from bootpd. I have seen these similar situations on 10.20 during installation of JetAdmin software and has been resolved after installing patches.

As pointed by Alex, I don't think Entria type Xterminals/Enware software is supported under 11.11. I know it will work under 11.0 though ...

Alex,

An Envizex xterm booted OK, but the Entria did not.
This is the log report from the failed boot:

Re: xtadm error

do the missing files exist ? if yes I'd check the $BASEPATH setting or post remsh get config and post the outputs.

Re: xtadm error

Alex,
Unfortunately the files exist. I'm afraid that this is a compatability problem, as you had mentioned earlier.

Re: xtadm error

Alex,
I'll have to find an Envizex that is not in use and try to boot it from this server. May take 15 minutes or so.

Re: xtadm error

Alex,
Well I issued "remsh xc1slt02 reboot" which is an Envizex and the terminal booted off the 11.11 server. This is on a remote site, so I'll have to get a pair of eyes down there and see what is going on. I'll post what I find out.

Thanks,

Stuart

Re: xtadm error

Well other than it's using a remote config file I see nothing unusual .... so it would appear your problem may just be with the xtadm utility .... is that a fair comment ?

If not can I also see remsh get log ......
