xterm & hpterm not working in HPUX 11.23 install

Hi Guys 'n' Gals.
I'm having some problems with xterm on an rx7620 with HP-UX 11.23. dtterm works fine.
I suspect it's causing a problem with Oracle installation. Has anyone encountered this problem?

$DISPLAY is set.
echo $DISPLAY
c132253:0.0

But xterm can't open it, but dtterm can.

xterm
Error: Can't open display: c132253:0.0
Error: Couldn't find per display information

file xterm
xterm: s800 shared executable dynamically linked -not stripped

(Anyone know what an s800 shared executable is?)

I'm wondering if this is a library issue with the "s800 shared executable" , although I would expect to see an error message pointing to a missing library .

Then try xterm


Also look in .dt/*log for errors

Two quickies:

/etc/rc.config.d/xfs

make sure the font server is set in the first variable is equal to 1. otherwise no font server, no X Windows.

Also, you might need this code in /etc/profile so external X Windows software will work.'

export DISPLAY

Found the problem. Idiot boy used Solaris syntax in the nsswitch.conf.
