I don't have any 10.X systems (and neither should you - they're no longer supported), but here's the version info for 11.11:

$ uname -a
HP-UX tsws1 B.11.11 U 9000/785 2006183676 unlimited-user license

$ what /usr/bin/X11/xterm
/usr/bin/X11/xterm:
X Window System, Version 11 R5+ HP-UX B.10.20.020916 CDE Patch Release

I don't know what OS you're running, but there's no -v switch on my HP-UX xterm.
