Zebra Printer using hpnpl

Hello Admins,

I am runing a HPUX 11i system and i am trying to configure a Zebra label printer. Normally what i do is use the
#/opt/hpnpl/bin/addque -q queuename -h hostname -i driverid.

I tried using various driver id number but none of them match. Tried using the generic printer driver but it prints Junk.

CAn anyone help me out? What model should i use?

Thanks in advance

Re: Zebra Printer using hpnpl

Hi

I had something similar a year or two ago and ended up with the gereric plotter since these things actually plot and not print

That may help

addqueue -l is good to see available scripts

Re: Zebra Printer using hpnpl

this is probably unrelated to your problem, but the zebra printers actually use a propritary plotting language, not HPGL, postscript, PCL or any other sane format.

i'd check for vendor supplied translation programs.
There have been Innumerable people who have helped me. Of course, I've managed to piss most of them off.

Re: Zebra Printer using hpnpl

Bear in mind that the hpnpl commands only apply to HP JetDirect devices (or those that emulate the protocol). JetDirect printers in HP-UX speaker are "Network" printers while those that use the LPD protocol are referred to as "Remote" printers and are not added using the hppi commands.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Zebra Printer using hpnpl

We use these printers at cingular. I just add them as dumb printers in jetadmin or jetdirect and they work fine.
