Adding Memory to DL385G1 Server

Hi
We have a DL385G1 (2P) server in production as a VMWare 3.0 server. Currently this machine has 8Gb of ram 2 (one per proc) x 2 (per bank) x 2Gb. The memory that HP shipped me is 2x4Gb. What is the best way to install this memory? should I just add it to one of the processors or does it make more sense to move all the existing 8 to one processor and add the new 8 on the other? I am leaning toward the latter but I don't know for sure if this will work.
Thanks

Re: Adding Memory to DL385G1 Server

Shalom Jonathan,

The answer to this question is always "It depends"

Spreading it across processors can help with a machine that has lots of processes that run a short time.

Putting it on one CPU can improve the performance of big ugly applications like Oracle Server and Oracle Application Server (Noting personal Larry).

Thanks for the input.

The server in question is a VMWare ESX 3.0 server so the load is going to be balanced pretty evenly between processors (hopefully).

I am leaning ever more toward the 8 and 8 configuration.
