Adding new hard disk on Linux

Ignore my previous mail.

We have redhat linux 9 installed on a compaq ultra 320 server having cisss drivers . We have attached a new scsi hard disk which doesnt detect.

Could anyone help on this. Also could you let us know how to find if RAID is configured on LINUX.

Re: Adding new hard disk on Linux

Shalom,

Have you booted the server?

If it does not detect after boot:

Boot the system off the cd that comes with it for setting up storage. Add the disk to the existing storage setup.

Boot back into Linux.

The disk should be visible now.

Re: Adding new hard disk on Linux

hi,

the server has been rebooted and we do not have a storage CD as it is not a storage box.

Any things else can be tried

You can download array configuration utility (ACU) for linux from the hp downloads site.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: Adding new hard disk on Linux

Except there is no ACU for RH9.

All CCISS based controllers that I know have a RAID BIOS where you can configure the containers during boot-time.

After the boot, the device should be available as a new disk as '/dev/cciss/c0d1' (or appropriately named based on controller id and container id).
One long-haired git at your service...
