A remote user on an AIX version 4.3 system dials in via a modem to my Red Hat Linux 6.2 server. He is prompted for his login and password which he enters correctly. He then gets the following message :
Login Successful: System=new_alfred
msg-RYou are unknown to me
HANDSHAKE FAILED: REMOTE DOES NOT KNOW ME.
exit code 101
Conversation Complete: Status FAILED
Does anyone know how to resolve this ?
Many thanks in advance.

Hello Preet,
Does your Linux server acts as a ppp server or not ? If it does, I cannot help you, however you will find all necessary information to setup the pppd server at http://www.linuxdoc.org.
If it does not, then make sure that the ppp daemon is shut down on the Linux box.
Good luck
Kodjo
