Amanda Backup (selfcheck request failed: timeout waiting for REP)
I am trying to backup a Linux 64 bit client using amanda. if I install amanda client it works fine as soon as I reboot server I start getting timeout problem:
- I checked Firewall for ports 10081/10083 and entries are added
-I cehcked services file 10082/tcp amandaidx
10083/tcp amidxtape and entries are added to Amanda Server and Client as well.
- if I run NMAP from Amanda Backup Server I get the following:
10082/tcp closed amandaidx
10083/tcp closed amidxtape
is this mean that this ports are being reserverd or are they closed for some reason?
- amandadebug log on client has the following error that I am not sure what it means:
amandad: security_seterror(handle=0x5133d0, driver=0x2a957a8900 (BSDTCP) error=EOF
on read from new.curry.edu)
1247770513.168682: amandad: receive error: EOF on read from new.curry.edu
I am not sure what causing sendback service to fail..!!!
Thanks,
P/S this machine is running Oracle 10g.

It seems like there are a lot of people poting on this forum. I hope you posted your question over there as well, because chances of finding someone using this backup solution here is pretty slim to none.
UNIX because I majored in cryptology...

Re: Amanda Backup (selfcheck request failed: timeout waiting for REP)
- This server I am trying to backup is an NFS client to a Windows 2003 NFS server.
- I mount about 30 windows shares. I dismounted all the share and teste Amcheck and it worked fine.
- I mounted windows NFS shares and Amcheck times out.
I think my problem are those windows NFS shares that are mounted.
Thanks
