Automounting windows filesystem on linux

Hi,
I had mounted the windows filesystem on linux and i had made corresponding entries in fstab file..
when linux box reboots i am getting the //backup/.. fails to mount and after i get the console the windows filesystem is not mounted.
In the similar way if windows m/c rebots then the filesystem has not mounting automatically .why it is happening..How to synchronise it..
Is there any scripts avialable for monitoring the mounting status for every sec..

Pls let me know

redgs,
palani
