Re: Back up server

Hi syed,

read about Linux HA (High Availability) project s on net, one most popular site is: www.linux-ha.org . briefly speaking, you will need heartbeat installed in a system, and both the servers have replicated backups are continuously monitored by heartbeat. you will have a virtual IP configured for both the servers, and if one server fails, heartbeat will assign this IP to another server.

RedHat has "Red Hat Cluster Manager" product, see for more :

Re: Back up server

Take a look to heartbeat, is a clustering software that allows server failover (and service failover using with other software.

This uses a ethernet and/or serial conection between servers to monitor the state of the system. If a server fails, the other takes the control of the services.
