Best CCISS driver?
Yet the standard kernel source, as received from SuSE, contains a HP-supplied CCISS driver.
Which is the best one to use? Should we stay frozen on the -145 kernel until HP gets around to releasing a new Proliant Support Pack, or should we go with the current.
If HP is going to offer better versions of the driver, why don't they provide it in source, like they do for network drivers and other drivers? The doc for the binary-only package mentions using the source RPMs, but I can't find them anywhere.

Re: Best CCISS driver?
There are plenty of issues with servers that require extra work, why add to the pile?

Re: Best CCISS driver?
PSP 7.40 is expected to release this month which contains CCISS driver support for SLES 9 SP1. But I am not sure whether it supports -201 kernel.
I would go with SEP's suggestio, if you have something working out of the box (in this case -201 kernel containing cciss driver) then stick to it unless you have any problems with it.
I am not sure whether this information is accurate, but it looks like you can get latest cciss along with source code from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cciss/

Re: Best CCISS driver?
But it still looks like it's a good deal older than what's in the SLES 9 distribution.
I'd be curious to know whether there's even going to be a CCISS driver in the next PSP.
(Going with the standard distributed kernel means that I'd have to figure out how to remove the CCISS driver from the PSP, or figure out some other way to avoid its installation.)

Re: Best CCISS driver?
PSP 7.40 does contain updated cciss driver to work on SLES 9 SP1 kernel.
if you are installing PSP interactively then you have the choice of selecting/deselecting PSP components from the GUI.
Otherwise I believe the PSP bundle will contain an XML file which has details on what component to be installed, try modifying it to suite your need. I am not sure whether this will work and this is officially supported by HP.
