Re: Book

Hi,

First make sure that you read
Many simple configuration things are there.
http://www.europe.redhat.com/documentation/
Then, the trouble is on VPN, which is quite specific. Once more, the Internet is full of resources on that.
I read 'Red Hat Linux Networking and system administration' (ISBN 0-7645-3632-X), from Red Hat, quite a good basis for all you require...

Re: Book

Congratulations, I think it is a really good idea to get a good grasp of the conceptual stuff reading a book ;-)

I do suggest to check out the O'Reilly books
(www.oreilly.com). I generally found them well written. They might have something for your spedific distribution, else e.g. the essential system administration book is a good start.

Re: Book

The Linux Bible is a good title that covers most of those topics.

It can be found at amazon.com and other good tech book sites.

The book comes with a Linux Distribution, which is nice.

I would advise against using ipchain firewall, its obsolete. The book covers both ipchains and iptables. iptables is more secure because its getting updates, ipchains is a dead end product.

I also recommend a search of itrc, there are good threads and topics right in here.
