How can i boot red hat in single mode. I'm going to change the root password cause someone chage it.
Can i change the root password in single mode like HP-UX or must be in a diferent way ?

Solution
You can boot to single user mode by entering
"shutdown 0"
at a command prompt. This should change the run level to single user. You can also get there from power up if you are already locked out. After power up, at the "boot:" prompt, enter "linux single". This should take you to a "#" root prompt.
You can change the password the same way you do in HP-UX - "passwd".

In the lilo prompt type in the word "single" without quotation.
