bridge fc/scsi
Hello,
I am trying to use SAN backup on RedHat 7.3. Drives are connected on the SAN through a fc/scsi bridge. On boot, I only detect the bridges and not the drives connected behind ( bridges should be invisible as is on HP-UX, Suse LES8)
Here is a part of dmesg:
scsi3 : QLogic QLA2200 PCI to Fibre Channel Host Adapter: bus 2 device 5 irq 24
Firmware version: 2.02.03, Driver version 6.04.02
Vendor: HP Model: A4689A Rev: 008r
Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 00
Vendor: HP Model: A4689A Rev: 008r
Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 00
Vendor: HP Model: A4689A Rev: 008r
Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 00
Does anybody already encounter this problem?

Re: bridge fc/scsi
What are your LUN ID's?
Linux will not detect by default any LUN ID > 8.
In order to do this, you must have this enabled on your kernel:
CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN=y
which translates to "SCSI support/Probe all LUN's in each SCSI device" in make menuconfig.

Re: bridge fc/scsi
As the box doesn't exist anymore ( we switched it in suse linux enterprise server 8), the problem does not occurs anymore.
Paulo > I think that this was not our problem. The kernel was already modified to allow us to use multiple luns on a path, we were using multiple SAN storage disks over this fiber through the same fiber of an EMC array so we had at least five differents luns from the same host/target.
