Can't run startx

I have newly intall a linux , but when I run startx , it pop up the below message.

Parse error on line 242 of section InputDevice in file /etc/X11/XF86Config
"Device" is not a vaild keyword in this section.
(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile()

Fatal server error:
no screens found

fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Hi,
Have you run Xconfigurator ?
#Xconfigurator

Then try xstart

Hi Andy,

That Xconfigurator is in /usr/X11R6/bin. It covers most X issues.

If that does not help, can you give more info. Like the brand and version of your linux.

Hi,
Looks like your XF86Config file is not configured properly.

Try either Xconfigurator or xf86config in /usr/X11R6/bin to generate a new XF86Config file and then try starting X again.
