Can we do LDAP authentication thorugh IPV6??

I have made an LDAP server and client in a linux machine. I have succeeded in authenticating a remote user by using IPV4 address of the linux machine in LDAP conf file. I am able to get logging by debugging slapd manually i.e by slapd -d 768. But,When I am trying it on IPV6 by giving the INET6 address in ldap.conf, it is throwing an error Can't contact LDAP server. If i enter loopback address of IPV6 i.e ::1, it is able to authenticate the users. But if i give complete INET6 address, it is throwing the above error and even i am unable to get any type of logging if i start slapd manually as slapd -d 768. Kindly help me in this...I am attaching my ldap.conf file to this query.
