Cannot use port 1521 for Oracle

Cannot use port 1521 for Oracle

I have setup SuSE8, installed Oracle. From remote PC I can telnet and ftp to this Linux server, but I cannot use SQL*Net to connect to the Oracle database, which is using port 1521.

I have shutdown the fire wall, but no hpe !

Please advice. Thanks

Use #netstat -a to see if port 1521 is open, then tcpdump port 1521 to listent ot what happens when trying to connect.
If this port is closed, then check your Oracle configuration.

use lsof or netstat and see if the listner is actully running on port 1521.
