Re: Changing an expired root password

Changing an expired root password

I have an expired root password on our servers running HPUX 11i. When I log in, it gives me the message that I need to change my password, but when it takes me to the change password screen I am prompted to enter my old password (the one I just logged in with) and when i enter it, it says 'sorry.' and then takes me back to the login screen. Any idea how i can change this without using single user mode?

Thanks in advance!

What good is sam if he can't even log in? I could be wrong, but it seems like you may need to boot in maintenance mode and remove the expire date from your password file.
