Compaq NIC Agent
On our DL360 we have cmanic-5.30.0-3 installed. From time to time, CIM shows the proper green button for the NIC, but the contents are empty.
I realize that there aren't any cmanic processes running anymore. I then restart them (/etc/rc.d/init.d/cmanic start) and I can see the Compaq NC3163 NICs in CIM.
Why do they just stop running? (cma.log doesn't show anything for the stoppage)
Regards,
Christopher

Re: Compaq NIC Agent
To fix this problem, I would check to make sure the nic agents are loaded in runlevel 3 and 5. You can see if you have a file called /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99cmanic as well as /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S99cmanic which take care of starting the process when the server loads. I think if it would already be loading this way and would stop because of an error, you would see an error in the /var/log/messages when it loads cmanic. If it still does the same after, I would try to update the agents with the latest 5.4 version from http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/index.html and by selecting the redhat version that you are running.
