Re: Connect to Linux serial port using Windows HyperTerminal!!
You first.
"I am not able" is not a useful problem
description. It does not say what you did.
It does not say what happened when you did
it.

And what are the characteristics of the
serial port? "man stty"?
Are you using a good cable? (Null modem, if
necessary?) Do you have a voltmeter or some
other appropriate test equipment, and the
ability to use it?

Re: Connect to Linux serial port using Windows HyperTerminal!!
use putty, instead of hyper terminal,
you will select only a port and, you don't
need to set the speed.

Re: Connect to Linux serial port using Windows HyperTerminal!!
You can use the remote console feature of iLO to access the console, or if Linux is setup for serial port access, use the virtual serial port (VSP) in iLO.

Re: Connect to Linux serial port using Windows HyperTerminal!!
If you are using hperterminal, the default settings 9600-N-8 should work.
But Linux by default doesn't listen on the serial port and you will need to set it up to do so.
If this is a DL380, it has an ILO card or port. That can be configured to be network accessible on ssh, which is way more reliable than anything you are attempting to do here.

Re: Connect to Linux serial port using Windows HyperTerminal!!
You can use agetty in /etc/inittab in order to "instruct" your RHEL (I sugest you should upgrade... 4.0 is too old) to listen for serial connections on serial line(s).
man inittab
and
man agetty
should help.
Best regards,
Horia.
