Debian and Systems Insight Manager

Hi,

I have a machine running Debian 3.0R2 (Woody) and would like to make it a Systems Insight Manager server. Looking at the downloads it seems that SIM is only available for:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 with update 1
SuSE SLES 8.0 (based on United Linux 1.0 kernel)

Does anyone know if its possible to install SIM on Debian or if HP will release a package for Debian.

Thanks

Re: Debian and Systems Insight Manager

nothing on debian.

You may want to work about it but I think it's wasted time, because a lot of things may change while you're working.

Anyway you could
1) alienize hp rpms
2) recompile a brand new kernel using hp-compliant module sources
3) search for errors.

maybe some hp responsible may tell if I'm wrong

Peace, R.

Re: Debian and Systems Insight Manager

Well, haven't tried it yet, but it should work on debian, following these guidelines:

http://users.sk-tech.net/other/HPrpm2deb.html

Hope this helps.. Feedback on this is appreciated if you get it working..

Good luck.

Indeed, maybe check the homepage:
http://www.sk-tech.net/

There's a direct link there (http://www.sk-tech.net/links.htm) in wich you can find the HP/Debian stuff.

good luck, and let us know if it works..

Cheers.

Re: Debian and Systems Insight Manager

I tried the HPrpm2deb and succeeded in making it working.

However I got some other troubles, I can't see the computer inside compat insight manager.

How to configure snmp and hp agents ?
