did something stupid! Removed /dev HELP!!
I really screwed up this time. By mistake I removed /dev. I still got one open Putty session to the fedora 3 machine, but I just don’t know what to do (with myself).
Any ideas?
Fast response would be really appreciated!
Cheers,
Renarios

Re: did something stupid! Removed /dev HELP!!
Did you change there stuff? You can install fresh linux box and copy stuff from there.
Beside this, I don't know what else can you do.
Alex.

Re: did something stupid! Removed /dev HELP!!
if you are using RedHat/Fedora,then there is a chance: I believe these distro's are having one RPM package just for setting up /dev/ filesystem (the RPM contains all device files including permission).
I am not able to recall the package name, but if you can search in the distribution's RPM package list then it should be there.
Just Re-install the RPM and your device filesystem should be up and running.
Hope this helps,
Gopi

Re: did something stupid! Removed /dev HELP!!
Luckely I could copy all files from /tmp/etc/dev to /dev, but I would sleep well tonight.
I'm leeching fedora4 at the moment, so there's one little advantage in this mess.
Thanks guy for the responses.
Closing now!
Cheers,
Renarios
